Week of 9/18
Fri 9/22 Ringer Construction group took over Sea Otter V today. The gang mixed it up with jumbo porgies, some sea bass and stripers to 20 pounds. Sat 9/23 The morning half day boat had plenty of bluefish action on jigs. Jason brought in some false albacore and steve wexman won the pool with a beauty of a striped bass at 37 pounds. Fri nite bass Decent striped bass bite tonite. Brett Belascio captured the pool winner at 28 pounds. Sea Otter Charters: Mon 9/18 The boys from Engine 317 Ladder 165 were out having a great 1/2 day morning of bass action. The guys swung 3 fish over 30 pounds over the rails and they bagged their limit. Troy Hunt weighed a 29 and a 30 pounder. Chuck Jones scored with a 38 pounder. Tues 9/19 Dave Harrison was up from Atlanta for a half day norning. He and his group nabbed their limit. Sheldon brought his first ever keeper striper into the boat and Arnold had a nice 32 pounder. Fri 9/22 Andy and his guys from Arrow Tree Service made it a day bending the rods for some great bass action. Andy was high hook and he weighed in the pool winner at 36 1/2 pounds. Paul Kimball weighed ina 35 1/2 pounder. Jimmy Harris counted 5 keepers and Willie the "rod holder man" managed a nice 31 pounder. Sat 9/23 Bud Hoffman had the gang out today aboard Sea Otter V from International Assoc. Of Heat & Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers. The gang got into diamond jigging stripers and blues. The weather took a turn towards afternoon when the gang switched to porgie action. Please note: There will NOT be an open boat avail. on Thurs 9/28. Sea Otter IV will operate the 8am-noon diam. jig trip on Sat 9/30. There will NOTnot be an afternoon trip avail. The Sun thru Fri Full Day combo trip will switch to all BLACKFISH on Sun Oct. 1st 7AM-4PM! Week of 9/11 Tough weather conditions this week. Saturdays 1/2 day diamond jigging trips yielded plenty of blue fish action in th emorning. the afternoon bite was tough but John managed to pull out a nice 25 pound striper. Saturday night' sbass trip made a pool winner out of Dan Gleason courtesy of his 25 pound striped bass. Sunday's all day trip had some very decent sea bass action with fish to 4 pounds. Ray Reese took th epool honors with a fat 4 pounder. There were some nice porgies coming over the rails and anglers experienced a tough bass bite today. Sea Otter Iv charters Thursday Rodney Garutti and friends mixed it up with porgies, sea bass and stripers. Patrick White nailed a nice 41 pounder. 8 fish sailed over the rails over 30 pounds. Ron had a 35 pounder, Steve had a 33 and Rodney had a 36 1/2 pounder. Fri Al Goldberg and buddies made it for a half day before conditions turned for the worse. The guys had their limit on bass to 32 pounds. Cheryl had double header scup to 2 3/4 pounds. Sat Brian Minsky and friends were out for a full day. Paul had his first ever keeper striper. Steve had 5 bass to 32 pounds. Joe had 6 to 30 pounds. Great day over 35 keepers came over the rails. Sun Jack Ostrowski and guys from Poland Plumbing had an offshore trip today. Very nice day with tons of action on skip jack. A half dozen yellowfin were caught with Jack and Vogden bringing in their first ever tuna. They laso had Mahi Mahi to 18 pounds. Please note that ther are no open boat trips avail. during the day on Fri 9/22. sea Otter Iv will run the 8am-noon 1/2 day boat on sat 9/23. There will not be an afternoon trip avail. Week of 9/5 Some very tough fluke conditions this week after the storm. Slow bite with the pool fishes throughout the week averaging between 4 and 6 pounds. Thurs 9/7 Thursday nights Full moon bass trip made a pool winner out of Paul Ryan who weighed in a 21 pounder. Fri 9/8 Rich Balnis and the boys in blue form East Hampton were out night eeling for bass. Fun night with fish weighed in to the low twenty-pound range. Sat 9/09 Thomas kent and friends were out today from Bradshaw Mechanical. The gang mixed it up with some fluke fishing and then had some terrific bluefish action on diamond jigs. A couple stripers in the mix too. Sun 9/10 Withthe upcoming weather forecast today may have been the unofficial end of fluke season. Well it went out with a bang for Jt Kim. He nailed the pool with an 11.8 pound flattie! Sea Otter Iv Charters: Steve Petrecca took advantage of the Full Mooon by chartering 9/6, 9/7 and 9/8 this week. The first night Sean and Dave were helping throwback keepers (some at 30 pounds). The guys had fish tip the sca;es to 36 pounds. The second night Steve had plenty of bass to 30 pounds and plenty ofthrowbacks too. The third night the bite was a bit ytougher but they managed a dozen nice keepers. Wed 9/8 Krispy Creme Nagel and pals were out today. Excellent action w/live bait. Danny Sullivan had the largest bass of the day at 36 1/2 pounds (although he needed some oxygen after bringing it in!) Big Bone Kim had his limit to 32 1/2 pounds. John Nagel had his limit to 30 1/2 pounds. Krispy himself evenmanaged a few keepers at the end of the trip. Sat 9/9 Rich Lemke and buddies took a day charter today. Very good bassing on live bait. Also some nice porgies in the mix to 2 1/2 pounds and bluefish. Jason Haley had th epool bass at 30 pounds. Kenny Moore was out with friends for a twilite trip. The bachelor of th eparty, Clay Pitt diamond jigged bass to 20 pounds. Larry was high hook on bass. Plenty of bluefish action. Sun 9/10 Louis Pedone was out today live lining porgies for stripers. Plenty of bluefish action as well. Belgium Block weighed in the biggest porgie at 3 1/4 pounds. Screwy Louis and Belgium Block had bass to 27 1/2 pounds. Syeve Menino had 6 loaves of bread. Wed 8/30 Some nice fluke action with Ok Kang nabbing the pool earnings courtesy of the 9.3 pound fluke he brought over the rails. Thurs 8/31 Tough pick today with some anglers still managing their limit. The pool fish was a 7 1/2 pounder caught by Young Kim. Mon 9/4 Labor Day saw some tough fluking after the weekend storm. Mr. Kim managed to pull out a pool winner with a 7 pound fluke. Sea Otter IV Charters: Fri 9/1 The morning trip was chartered by Joanne Magleras for her annual end of summer outing. The gang had a bunch of blues bending the rods. Toni nailed three at once. Maggie and Vicki had the most fluke with seven. The afternoon trip was taken by Howard Breindel and friends. Plenty of bluefish action amidst deteriating conditions. Rachael nabbed a triple header. Mon 9/4 Mr Hahn kept up his tradition of holiday charters today. Great porgie actions and some nice jumbos in th emix. The guys also scored with some quality sea bass. Martin Hahn tipped the scales with his first striped bass ever at 36 pounds. Mr. Hahn had a 33 pounder and released a 25 pounder. After the 12th (Fluke closure) Sea Otter V will sail Sunday thru Friday 7am-4pm for a mix of porgies, sea bass and stripers. Saturdays will be 1/2 day diamond jigging for bass and blues 8am-noon and 1 pm-5pm. Night striped bass will continue by reservation on Wed, Fri, Sat, Sun at 7pm. Please note that Fri 9/8 night striped bass trip is sold out. The 1/2 day trips on Sat 9/9 is also sold out. Come on out and get the last of the fluke fishing season in! We also have daytime charters avail. on Sea Otter IV on Thurs 9/7 and Fri 9/8. On a somber note one of our long time customers, Kevin Daniels, suffered a tragic health crisis over the weekend. Kevin is an avid fisherman and familiar face around the docks. We send out our prayers and support to him and his family at such a difficult time.
