FISHING REPORT
Week of 8/21
Sun night Tough bite but Rich Detrimonico pulled a pool winner over the rails at 22 pounds. Mon 8/21 Some decent action today on flukeand some sea bass. The pool fishcame in at 7 pounds. Tues 8/22 A real doormat captured the pool honors. Tipping the scale at 10 pounds, 10 ounces was the fluke brought over the rails by Damien Garcia. Wed 8/23 Nice quality continues on the fluke frint with a 9 pound 12 ounce flattie taking top honors for pool entrant Young Kim. Wed night Ok bite tonite for the moon with Tom Gallery snagging the pool winner at 28 pounds. Thurs 8/24 Some nice fish captured today include pool winner Joe Lasofsky's 8.7 pounder. Fri 8/25 Good fluke bite with some nice quality. Joghn Fardellone won th epool with his 8.2 pound flattie. Fri night Joe Tancredi was our pool winner tonite with a 23 pound striped bass. tough conditions tonite. Sat 8/26 Mr. Koo was high hook today with 11 fish on the East Coast Fishing Supply Charter. Dean Halley of Team Taiwan won the pool with a real doormat at 10.8 pounds. Sun 8/27 Some tough winds and conditions today but th eboat managed to limit out on fluke. We also had some sea bass and scup in th emix. Big Paul Fosse was high hook with 8 keepers and he also won th epool with a 6.9 pounder. Sea Otter Charters: Mon 8/21 Steve Melish and buddies were out for some fluke action. Some nice quality fish with KC Kenny had a 7.4 pounder, Ronnie Porcelli nabbed a 7.2 and Steve weighed in a 6.2 pound flattie. Tom Telleisha was their pool winner with a nice 9.7 pounder. Wed 8/22 Jed Kanner had the kids out for some blues and bass action. Danny and Haily tied for th epool striper and the gang had plenty of blues to contend with. Thurs 8/24 John Milkovich and buddies did some offshore/inshore fishing. Some nice striper and blues activity around with John bringing in his first bass. Ward helped haul a nice 120 pound blue shark in. Thurs night The Fishermen editors were out for some night eeling action. they scored with 11 fish to 31 1/2 pounds. Tom, Fred and Mike nailed their limit. It is Tom who knows who caught the money fish though. Fri 8/25 Mike Preiss and buddies were out nabbing stripers on live bait. The guys had fish to 30 pounds. they also had a bunch of blues on spreaders. The afternoon was chartered by Ross Cohen. He had th ekids out for some mixed bag action. Shelby managed the largest fluke but Jack was high hook. They also had tons of bluefish with Sam nailing 4 at once. Sat 8/26 John Hanna was out celebrating the upcoming weeding of pal Tom. Mixing it up, Morgan was high hook on scup. The guys also had plenty of blues to reel in trolling. Anthony Bilella took the afternoon charter to celebrate another upcoming wedding for the second Tom (Calabro) of the day. Blues, blues and more blues with over 150 nabbed diamond jigging and trolling. Sun 8/27 Mario Pereira and the guys from Grizzly Construction were out. Lots of lots of porgies and tons of bluefish with 4 at a time on common. Mario nabbed a keeper striper. Please call for reservations as we are sailing for striped bass on Labor Day night at 7pm. Also, Thurs 8/31, Sun 9/3 and Tues 9/5 are available for private charters. Sun night 8/13 Good night bassing with around 30 nice keepers. Alex Petrenko won the pool with a 28 pound striper. Mon 8/14 Great fluking continues with the boat nabbing its limit. An 8 pound 11 ounce fluke was the ace in the hole for pool winner Steve Matteucci. Tues 8/15 Some good action today as Sung Oh hit the pool with a 6 1/4 pound flattie. Wed 8/16 Park took the pool money home today, nabbing a 6 pounder for his efforts. Wed night It was a 40 pounder taken by Kathy Kronuch that nailed the pool for our Montauk local. Thurs 8/17 No complaints form pool winner Steve as he reeled in a 5 3/4 pound flattie. Fri 8/18 The pool fluke was reeled up by Andy O'Brien weighing in at 5 1/ 2pounds. Fri night Decent pick with Brian Burke scoring the pool with a 26 pound striper. Sat 8/19 Good morning bite with a5 lb pool fish nabbed by Kevin Rigby. The afternoon pool was a 4 pound fluke caught by Rich. Sat night Tough night but Richie Wisseman nabbed th epool with a 26 pound striper. Sun 8/20 Sea Otter Charters: Mon 8/14 Anthony Testa and his family were out and had great fun on a twilight trip. Anthony, Vinnie and sarah nabbed their fluke limit to 4 pounds. Vinnie weighed in th elargest at 5 1/2 pounds. Mon 8/14 Keith Lansing was out with friends. Plenty of blue fish and some bass action. dan livingston had 2 keeper bass and reeled in a double header of blues. Nice mako in the slick. Tues 8/15 Bob Gull from Port Washington was out mixing it up with some pals. Bob landed the largest bass and Tim was having a good time with the most bluefish at once. sharon had her limit of fluke to 4 pounds and John was high hook with 6 keepers to 3 1/2 pounds. Wednesday 8/16 The Rusty Hook Fishing Club were out for some fluking and diamond jigging. Plentry of bluefish to contend with. Lenny had th epool fluke at 6 pounds. Wednesday night Gary Katz had the kids out to do a Twilight trip. Team Killer, composed of Gabriella, Jenna and Capt. Joel were high hook with th emost blue fish. Diamond jigging Anthonyand Brandon each had 2 keeper stripers. Thursday 8/17 and Friday 8/18 Jay Powers chartered the boat. Thurs they had plenty of bluefish action then switched into some fluke. Jay nabbed his limit of fluke to 5 1/2 pounds. On Fri the guys had good fluke action with over 40 keepers coming over the rails with fish to 6 1/2 pounds. Thurs night Gary Katz and crew were back for another twilight adventure. Dina Hermeak's first time fishing earned her 2 keeper striped bass. Over 12 keeper stripers were landed. 8 year old Gabriella won th epool with her striper. Sat 8/19 Al Goldberg was out for some awesome fluke action with 20 fish over 5 pounds.. Tom "the tesaer man" nailed a beauty at 9 1/ 2pounds. He also had an 8.3 poun der and 3 others over 5 1/ 2pounds. Plenty of keepers weith the guys only keepeing their limit. Al Goldberg had fish to 7 1/ 2pounds. Sun 8/20 Sal Ferriolo and friends were out. Sal christened th eboat with its first two green bnito of th eyear. There was plenty of bluefish action to be had. Paul had a pair of 25 pound stripers. Please let readers know that the daytime trip on Saturday 8/26 is sold out. Week 8/7 Mon 8/7 Fluking is RED HOT!!! Over 200 keepers hitting the deck. Plenty of fish over 5 pounds. Some sea bass in the mix too! Mr. Choi nailed the pool withhis 8 1/2 pound flattie. Tues 8/8 Another awesome day of fluke action with quantity and quality the norm. A welcome repeat of yesterday with another 200+ keepers sailing over the rails. Paul Ryan was the happy angler who won the pool with an 8 1/2 pounder. Captain Joel nailed a 10 1/4 pound doormat today on a private charter. Tues nite bass Diedre Tracey took pool honors withher 28 pound striper. Good bluefish bite too. Wed 8/9 Another fluke phenomenon! After limiting out on fluke switched into some sea bass fishing with some quality landed to 5 pounds. Brooklyn Lou was our pool winner today withan 8 1/2pounder. Some nice quantities between 6 and 7 pounds as well. Thurs 8/10 No complaints again re: fluke bite. Rick Waltz won the pool tday with a 9.1 pounder. The boat took its limit again. Thurs Night The striped bass bite has turned on! Great night with over 55 keepers coming over the rails with 12 tipping the scales over 30 pounds. Diedre Tracey was back and nailed 5 keepers to 39 pounds. Tom Henert weighed in his limit at 32 and 35 pounds. Frank Stout managed 8 keepers with the 2 largest at 36 and 38 1/2 pounds. The pool was tied by a pair of 41 pounders caught by Nick Palesty and Pat Friel. Fri 8/11 Nice action today with the morning pool captured by Dean Almaniar and an 8 pound fluke. The afternoon jonors were awarded to Jeff Silver and his 6 1/ 2pound flattie. Sat 8/12 Rene Allen took overthe boat today to celebrate the final days of bachelorhood for Tommy Cordray. Awesome fluking action with the gang taking their limit. Keith Althoff won the pool and Ronnie Olivio was high hook. Some sea bass in the mix before switching over to some nice bluefish action. Sat night Good night time action with Gary Kolusar high hook with 5 keepers and Bill kenney right behind with 4. Vin Dibernardo was the pool winner weighing in a nice 32 1/2 pound striper. Fri Night Nice quality fish tonight. Tom Otranto hauled a 39 pound striper over the rails while Jennifer O'Sullivan edged him out for the pool with her 40 pounder. Sun8/13 More excellent fluking to report with the boat taking its limit. Mr Chan nailed the pool with a 9 pound 4 ounce fluke. Sea Otter IV Charters: Tues 8/8 Michael Ventrice and th egang from Harbir crab Company came out for a half day of awesome fluking. Ryan Smith weighed in an 8 1/2 pounder while Chris nailed a 7 3/4 . Capt. Jole couldn't resist getting in on the action and aced a 10 1/4 pound flattie. Tuesday afternoon The Binder falmily and friends were out celebrating young Charlie Binder's birthday. Lots of action and fish over 4 pounds. Katie had a 6/12 pounder and Charlie weighed in fish to 5 1/2 pounds. Thurs 8/10 Anthony Dinapoli and some friends mixed it up with good fluke action, a good bass bite and plenty of blues to round out the day. Fri 8/11 Al goldberg had the boat for the day and what a day it was. Excellent action with the gang throwing plenty of keepers back over the rails after limiting out. Mel nailed his biggest flattie to date at 9.4 pounds. Uri Kotov came out on a twilight first time fishing adventure with some family members. Trolling the guys had some very good action with tons of bluefish. Uri managed 4 nice keeper bass. Sat 8/12 Frank Morelli and the guys from MTA's Jamaica yard made it a day with some terrific fluke acytion with limits over 4 1/2 pounds. Kenny Sohl was highhook with 10 keepers. Dan Lettel won the pool with a 7 3/4 pounder. Using an Al Goldberg special rod Capt. Joel got into the action again this time bringing up a 9 1/ 2pound flattie. Sat night. Capt. Pete from the Celtic Quest chartered the boat celebrating his brothers upcoming wedding. Good action with bass to 35 pounds. Sun 8/13 Ed Maguire and guys from the Centerport Fire Department enjoyed some great fluke action with Ed nabbing their pool at 8 pounds. Billy managed 5 fish over 5 pounds with his largest at 6 3/4 pounds. We sail Night Striper trips 7PM-1AM BY RESERVATION on Wed, Fri, Sat and Sun. Also Tues 8/22 and Thurs 8/24 and Mon9/4. FULL DAY FLUKE trips are now running 7am-4pm Sun thru Thurs. 1/2 DAYs are on Fri and Sat. Sun 7/30 Night Bass Very late bite tonite with plenty of blue fish in the mix. A slow tide and dogfish to contend with as well made for some tough conditions. John Smolentski pulled it out by bringing a nice 28 pounder over the rails to win the pool. Mon 7/31 Very, very good fluking action with many fluke hitting the deck over 5 pounds. Some nice sea bass swung over the rails up to 5 pounds. Southside Kenny Donnelly won th epool with an 8 pound 10 ounce fluke. Tues 8/1 Another great day of fluking with the boat limiting out. Ralph Depaola aced the pool with his 7 3/4 pund flattie. Wed 8/2 Excellent afternoon trip of fluking with some excellent quality fish. The pool winner was Mike Rooney withhis 8 3/4 pounder. Nicky Bufinsky weighed in a 7 1/4 pound fluke. Wed nite bass Both boats headed out tonite. Slow bite but Kathy Kronuch hit the pool with a 35 pounder and Jim Brennan won the other pool with a 22 pounder. Thurs 8/3 Decent fluke bite in the morning yielding a 5 pound pool fluke caught by Pat o'Day. Fri 8/4 A good fluke bite continueswith Billy Pellegrino winning the morning pool with a 4 pounder. The afternoon trip made a winner out of Mike Fitzpatrick courtesy of the 4 pound fluke he weighed in. Sat 8/5 Sat nite bass Unfort. a very tough night with the pool fish at 18 pounds. Sun 8/6 Awesome fluke day ith the boat limiting out. Young Kim had a 9.8 pound fluke to win the pool. He also weighed in a 7 1/2 pounder. Sea Otter Charters: Mon 7/31 Jason haley and pals were out today mixing ot up with bass and fluke. Tons of action on fluke. Mike Haley was high hook with fish to 6 pounds. Charlie Haley hauled in the biggest bass of the day at 32 pounds. Tues 8/1 Eric Klingel had some clients out for some afternoon fluke action. Good bite with Eric edging Guy out for the pool. Fri 8/4 Glenn Harris was out with some friends celebrating the wedding of Jeff Lefcourt. Plenty of diamond jigging action with lots of bluefish to 12 pounds. Sat 8/5 Phil Iorio and friends were out mixing it up today. Mike had his limit on fluke to 7 pounds. Chris nailed a 30 pound bass on live bait. The guys also weighed in an 8.2 pound fluke. Sun 8/6 The morning trip had Nick Piccolino out celebrating his birthday with his family. Awesome fluke action with over 30 keepers hitting the deck. Frank weighed in a 6 pounder and James had a 7 3/4 pounder. They also had 3 other fish over 5 pounds come in. Great morning! The afternoon trip was chartered by Bruce Ratner to celebrate Michael's birthday. Very nice afternoon with Bruce having the largest fluke and JP high hook. Tapeworm even learned some new fillet techniques courtesy of Pam the on board plastic surgeon.
