FISHING REPORT
Tues 4/25
Jim Montalbano and buddies chartered the boat today for some tog action. The guys limited out by noon! Excellent action with 5 fish over 10 pounds. After nabbing their limit the quantity and quality continued with 4 other fish weighing over 10 pounds being released as well. Wed 4/26 Hard running tide today but still had a good run withover 140 fish. Pam Podell, 1st (but not last) time togging won the pool with an 11 pounder! 13 fish was high hook today. Fri 4/26 Super running tide and east wind made for a tougher fishing day. High hook was 6 fish. 'Capt. Chaos" Glenn, won the poool with n 8 pounder. Sat 4/27 Lots of tide again today but fishing improved over yesterday. High hook was 8 keepers. Tony Alessi of WestSayville won the pool with a 9 1/2 pound tog. Captain Vinnie released a nice 12 pounder! Sea Otter V will be running blackfish trips Mon, Wed and Fri this week, by reservation. We will be switching to full day Fluke trips for opening day Sat. May 6th - 7am-4pm, 7 days a week, 1st come, 1st served. Sea Otter IV will run a tog trip on Sat may 6th by reservation for those still wanting to get in on the tog action! Tues 4/18 Headed out witha half day crew trip to test the Blackfish waters. Passed with flyIng colors! 50 fish for 3 guys. 4 around 10 pounds. Great morning! Wed 4/19 Good morning tog run today for the 3 man crew before conditions quickly deteriorated. Around 50 fish came over the rails to 10 pounds. Fri 4/21 Excellent blackfish trip today with around 150 fish coming over the rails. Coon nailed 13 tog and was high hook. La had a dozen. Eddie Chan won the pool with a 10 3/4 pounder. Sat 4/22 Overall the weather held out today to give us another good tog run. Over 100 fish with plenty in the 6-8 pound range. Thonmas Kim wn the pool with a 10 pounder, but non-pool entrant Vin weighed in a 10 1/2 pouder. High hook was 9 fish. Sea Otter V will be sailing by reservation, BLACKFISH TRIPS 6am-4pm WED, FRI, SAT, SUN & MON ! $75 - includes pole, bait and tackle! Friday 4/14 Good day today with some nice quantities of ling and keeper cod coming over the rails. Jack Rosenblat won the pool with hiscod at 14 pounds. Please let readers know that we will be running our cod trips by reservation at 5am on Mon April 17 and wed april 19th at 5am. We will switch gears and change to Blackfish trips on Fri 4/21- sailing Fri, sat, Sun and Mon at 6am by reservation. Tues 3/28 It was a Captains charter day aboard the Sea Otter today with Captain Vinnie at the helm along with Squirt. Some of the crew dropping their lines included Capt. Desi of the Celtic Quest and mate Pete, Captain Amanda of The Osprey and also Captain John of the Shinnecock Star. Great day with over 75 keeper cod nailed along with some short throwbacks. Good quantities weighed in the teens. Several double headers were brought over the rails. Rounding out the day was plenty of ling, some pollack and some conger eels. Fri 3/31 Nice mix of pollack, ling and cod today. Some nice quality cod with a handful over 20 pounds including the 25 pound pool winner caught by Glen Cove's Doc Petkanas. Sun 4/2 Good day today, averaging 4-5 keepers per man. Ggeorge Linkus was high hook with 9 keepers and 12 year old Douglas Weisberger of West Islip hit the pool with a 16 pound cod. Nice mix to round out the day including ling, silver eels, pout and keeper flounders. Mon 4/3 The Lee Winslow party was out for a codfish combo chartreer today. Good day with over 50 cod coming over the rails to 17 pounds. They also had some keeper flounder and a bunch of cunners , some eels and some ling. Please let readers know that we will be changing our schedule: We will continue our Cod combo trips by reservation, Wed, Fri, Sat, Sun & Mon. We are not sailing Wed 4/12.
