FISHING REPORT
Week of 10/23
Monday 10/24 Mark Novak and friends headed out for some diamond jigging action. More bluefish around than you can imagine. The guys also took home their limit of striped bass. They also mixed the day up with some tasty sea bass as well. Thurs 10/27 John Murano and family combined the methods of diamond jigging and live eeling to entice some monster bluefish and striped bass to 20 pounds. The guys also had a nice run of blackfish to 10 pounds. Fri night 10/28 The night striped bass trip proved to be a very good night with over 35 keepers landed. the pool bass was taken by Glenn Pancir and weighed in at 23 pounds. Sat 10/29 Chuck Gifford and 11 friends were out and did a number on some blackfish today. The guys boated around 115 keepers up to 10.2 pound. Chuck was high hook with 20 keepers. Paul had 15 keepers up to 8 1/ 2pounds. Sat morning's 1/2 day diamond jiging was excellent with some nice bass landed and loads of blue fish to comntend with. The pool winner was Steve Mattucci who weighed in a nice 20 pounder. Sat night striper trip provided some decent action along with some mixed weather. The sold out crowd didn;t complain as some nice keepers came over the rails including Kevin Veldis's 25 pound pool winner. Sun 10/30 Rudy Kastanak headed out with some pals to take advantage of some excellent fishing action. Using live eels they had a good run of blues and stripers to 23 pounds. They also got into some blackfishing . George was high hook with 7 nice togs. Captain Joel claimed his personal best in the tog category weighing in a 13.2 pounder. The Full day blackfish trip was an excellent day with the boat limiting out on tog to 9 pounds. fishermen also mixed it up by bringing some nice sea bass over the rails as well as some keeper cod. The pool winner was Mr. kim. Week of 10/17 Mon 10/17/Tues 10/17 The crew headed out fora 1/2 day exploratory blackfish trips. Excellent results with over 60 keepers on Monday and in just a few hours on Tues they nailed over 30 fish. Weights were up to 8 1/ 2pounds. Tues night 10/18 Jim Gleissner and friend scharterd the boat for some night bass action using live eels. Great night with over 45 keeprs swung over th erails. the pool was 31 pounds. Wed night 10/19 Some tough conditions came in Wed night but the bite was fair along with some bluefish action as well. Joe Archie wonr the pool with a 20 pounder. Thurs day 10/20 Awesom striper bite today combining diamond jigging and live bait for Jason Haley and friends. Jason, Mike and Jay nailed 31, 30 and 34 pound stripers respectively. Charlie"the fish" stole the show with a nice 40 pounder. They guys had a lot of fun mixing it up using clams to entice, blackfish, sea bass and scup as well. Fri day 10/21 Phil Santoro and pals headed out for a half day of diamond jigging action. Capt Yelow Gloves aka Frank Raspanti hit the pool with a 21 punder and reeled in 3 other keeprs. Paul also had 4 keepers - retaining only their limit. Friday afternoon. When the tide was right there was some excellent diamond jigging action to be had. Lots of bluefish and good numbers of stripers. Roger Henkell hit the pool winnings with a 20 pound striper. Thurs night 10/20 John Dunne and the boys from Engine 230 headed out. The fishing was good but the weather created a tough drift. The pool weighed in at 25 pounds. Sat day 10/22 The great Gun Anglers fishing club headed out for their annual fishing expedition. Lots of diamond jigging action with plenty of bluefish and over 20 keeper bass. Tom hit the poool with a 27 pounder. Adrianne managed to pull ina nice keepre on the last drift. As a reminder to all readers we will now be running FULL DAY blackfish trips from 7am-4pm on Mon, Tues, Wed and Thurs. Great action to be had so looking foward to seeing all our tog lovers out here soon! Week of 10/10 Unfortunately due to the seemingly unending rain and wind of last week, Captain Joel was forced to cancel/reschedule all trips. The good news is that it looks like far better weather lies ahead. Sea Otter V is still sailing 7 days a week, 1st come, 1st serve. Mon thru Thurs is a mixed bag of bottom fishing and diamond jigging from 7am-4pm and Fri and Sat there are 1/2 day diamond jigging trips from 8am-noon and 1pm - 5pm. For all those tog lovers, look for the schedule to change by months end to include blackfish! Prior to the storm the striped bass fishing really showed great improvement. Wed, Fri and Sat nights we sail at 7pm by reservation. Hope to see you all return soon! Mon 10/3 Mixed it up with some fluke and sea bass today. Joe Methfessel hit the pool with a 4 pound fluke. Wed nite 10/5 Fairly decent night with the pool striped bass weighing in at 33 pounds. Sat nite 10/8 Decent pick of stripers on live eels before the the wind kicked in. Bruce Penn took the pool fish at 35 pounds. Monday 10/3 The morning trip had out Steve Petrecca and friends to liveline porgies for stripers. Decent action with some nice fish to the mid twenties. We also had an excellent night trip out with John O'Rourke and friends. Great night with the guys taking their limit. Bill Tschinkel slammed a 50 pounder as well as a 40 pounder. The guys boated a nice 32 pounder as well. Tues 10/4 John O'Rourke and his buddies came back again for the day - couldn't get enough of the hot striper action. They sure had no disappointments as they hauled in over 40 keepers. Pete Tschinkel stole the show with a whopping 55 pounder. Nick Feeley was not too far behind with his 45 pounder. Don Davies hit a 34 1/2 pounder and John O'rourke tipped the scales with his fish weighing 32 pounds.The guys also released 3 others in the 30 pound range. Wed 10/5 Artie Kreschmeier Sr and Jr, Fred Watkins, and John B. were out livelining for stripers. Decent pick with fish to 30 pounds. Thurs 10/6 The daytime trip had Vision Enterprises aboard Sea Otter V back for their annual striped bass charter. Good time was was had livelining porgies with fish to the mid twenties. Fri 10/7 Similiar results today on the livelining trip, this time Rodney Garutti was out with his buddiesfor some fun. Thurs night 10/6 Glenn Pancir and his buddies opted for a night bass charter tonite with live eels. Great night with around 30 keepers! Gerard Troisi took top honors with a 38 1/2 pound striper. Not far behind were Neil Carfagna witha 37 pounder and Mark Grott with a 36 pounder. Mon 9/26 Mixed it up today. Sea bass, porgies and fluke. Johnny "Smokes" hit the pool with a 4 1/2 pound fluke. Wed 9/28 Some excellent sea bass action today. Brian Barry managed a nice 5 pound fluke also. Some blue fish also came over the rails by diamond jigs. Wed night Nnight bass action with live eels was the ticket for Frank Magdalena to reel in the pool winner at 25 pounds. Thurs 9/29 Morgan Neff was out with his Fire Department buddies doing some diamond jigging. Lots of blue fish action. Tom took the bass pool with a 14 pounder. Fri 9/30 Great night of night bass action with close to 40 keepers sailing over the rails. Kres Bocani had of 4 keepers and Ray Ravito had 5. Eddie Sun bagged the pool at 28 pounds. Sat 10/1 It was Steve Matucci's day. He took the morning pool honors by diamond jogging a 20 pound bass. The bite was stronger in th eafternoon with plenty of blue fish action as well. Steve took th epool again, this time weighing in an 18 pound striper. Sat night Good night of bass fishing! Bill White took home the pool at 30 pounds. Over 30 keepers came over the rails. Sun 10/2 Excellent sea bass action today with weights to 3 1/2 pounds. Also a couple dozen fluke in the mix. Mr. Kim was the pool winner with his 5 1/ 2pound fluke. Private Charters: Mon 9/26 Joe Peluso and friend made it a day of live lining porgies for stripers. Excellent action with everyone nabbing their limit with fish to 29 pounds. Tues 9/27 Dave Harrison was back up from GA for some bass action again. Live lining porgies the guys had their limit of bass to 32 pounds. Even "Florida Boy" managed a keeper. Fri 9/30 Frank Inglesias had his crew out for a full day bass trip. 12 year old James Hubert had 4 keepers to 31 pounds. Brian "Painter Boy" also managed to take home his limit. Sat 10/1 Peerless Abco Sprinkler Company was out today for some great fun of livelining for bass. Smitty was high hook of porgies at 50. Marie nailed her first ever bass and made it two keepers. Jim and Mike split the pool tying with a 30 1/2 pound bass each. Sun 10/2 The Petrecca family was out today for some livelining for striped basss. Great day with Jimmy nailing his two largest to date at 38 1/ 2 pounds and 31 pounds. Willie also took in his largest at 27 pounds. Please note that Sea Otter IV will be running the open boat trips on Thurs 10/6 and Saturday daytime 10/8.
