FISHING REPORT
week of 9/19
Tues 9/22 Lots of shorts and a good mix of sea bass today down towards Gurneys. "Buffalo" Bill hit the pool with a 6 1/ 2pound fluke. Wed 9/21 Tony Vigil took home the pool with a nice 7 1/2 pound flattie. Fri 9/23 Tough fluking but Art Buchanan hit the poool with a 5 1/ 2pound fluke. Sat 9/24 The afternoon pool was won by Kevin Daniels who diamond jigged a nice bass in the mid teens. Sun 9/25 Mixed day with Don Mitchell taking the pool honors with a striper at 18 pounds. Wed 9/21 Night bass Decent night in the rips with some nice fish coming over the rails. The pool winner was Tim Ritchie of Sayville who nailed a 29 pound striper. Charters: Monday 9/19 Dave Harrison of GA was up for a 1/2 day morning of striped bass action using porgies to entice them. Good morning with 4 fish to 32 pounds. Monday night Dennis Melis and his "Secret Squirrel" Team were down from Orange County for some live eeling bass fishing. Scotty, Derek and dennis had 3 keepers a piece and Derek won their pool with a 31 pounder. (Only kept their limit.) Tues day 9/20 Dave harrison was back again this morning for a repeat of yesterday. Good morning with his nephew Jack nailing 5 fish to 28 pounds. Wednesday 9/21 The Rusty Hook Fishing Club came out and tried their luck with stripers. Good fishing today with John Simms hauling in 4 keepers including the pool at 34 pounds. Mike also had a nice 32 pounder. Thursday 9/22 John Murana and his buddies of "Team Toyota" dis some porgie fishing to live line for stripers. The guys nailed their limit with Tony tossing some back at highh hook of 5. He managed to take home the title of Bassmaster edging out Dan with his 29 pound striper. Friday 9/23 Greg Oross and pals had an excellent day of bassing using live porgies. The guys had ttheir limit with Greg nailing 4 keepers. Kevin won their pool with his 31 pounder. Saturday 9/24 Made it a short day with some rough sea conditions but the guys from Prestige Plumbing manged a few nice bass before reaching for some dramamine! Rob Bruno nailed a nice 30 pounder. Sunday 9/25 The KGB were out with Anthony Brigandi leading the guys. Fun day with Rich aka Birthday boy nabbing the pool with a 32 pound bass caught on a live porgie. Anthiny managed to diamond jig the first bass of the day. Please let readers know that our schedule has changed. We will be sailing 7am-4pm Sunday thru Friday, a mixed bag including bottom fishing and diamond jigging. Saturdays will be 1/2 day diamond jigging trips for bass and blues at 8am and at 1pm. Night bass is still the same, please call for reservations for Wed, Fri or Sat nights . Please note that Sea Otter IV will be operating the the Open Boat trips on Thurs 9/29 and Sat 10/1. Week of 9/12 Mon 9/12 Charlie Snyder and pals headed offshore with Captain Joel for some tuna action. Around 15 albacore to 60 pounds with some mahi Mahi coming over the rails and skip jacks. The night time yielded plenty of blue shark action. Mon 9/12 A bit slow for the fluke action but Paul Fosse was the pool winner with a flattie at 6 pounds. Tues Things definately turned around today with some great fluke action. The boat nabbed its limit with "Buffalo Bill" taking home the bacon with a 6 1/ 2pound fluke. Wed 9/14 Decent pick of fluke today with Brooklyn Lou winning th epool with a nice 6 pound fluke. Wed night bass yielded a 23 pound striper to be the winner caught by Johnathan Ivarone. Thurs 9/15 Pat Curran chartered the boatas a last hurrah before his big weekend wedding. Good time had by all daimond jigging plenty of blues and some stripers. Th epool striper was nabbed by Jets Dr. Scott. Thurs night Steve Petercca was out with friends and family foer some livelining bass action. Steve weighed in the biggest bass of the night at 38 1/2 pounds. Fri 9/16 Andy Niemra of Arrow tRee Service charterd the boat for the crew for some live lining action. Some nice jumbo porgies overthe rails to 3 pounds. Miguel was high hook and managed the pool bass at 35 pounds. Sat night Decent night for stripers with over 25 keepers swung over the rails. Sun 9/18 Great sea bass day and fluke. Pool fish was a 9 3/4 pound flattie reeled in by Mr. Cho. Sea Otter IV had out a group from Lindenhurst Fire Department today. The group mixed it up with fluke, sea bass and blue fish. Carl Siciliano and Kenny tied the pool with 3 1/2 pound flukes each. Tues 9/6 A 6 1/2 pound fluke took the pool today vaught by Mikey D. Wed 9/7 Bobby Vigil was the winner today with a nice 8 pound fluke. Thurs 9/8 Choi hit the pool with a 4 1/2 pound flattie. Fri 9/9 The Bayport Fired dept. was out and Rupert Christensen nailed a 30 Pound styriper on a live eel. Sat 9/10 The morning pool was won by Tennesee native, Sam Edwards and his 6 pound fluke. The afternoon fish weighed in at 7 pounds and the lucky poll receipiant was Mike Golatz. Sat. night Jim Powers hit paydirt with a 25 pound striper. Sun 9/11 Paul Fosse won the pool with a 6 pound fluke. Please let readers know that there will not be an open boat available on Thursday 9/15. Mon 8/29 Mr. Ding was back and took home top honors with a 9 1/ 2pound fluke. Some nice sea bass in the mix also. Fri 9/2 Big Frank won the morning pool today with a 3 1/ 2pound fluke. Tough bite today. Sat 9/3 The morning pool was a 4 pounder nabbed by Scott. The afternoon fluke winner was Maureen with her 4 1/2 pound fluke. Saturday night bassing was a tough pick with Joe Julian nabbing the pool fish. Sun 9/4 Good quality pick of fluke throughout the day. Mr. Kim nailed a 9 1/4 pound beauty to win the pool. Charters: Fri 9/2Joanne Maglavarsi anfd her family were back for their annual porgie adventure. Fun trip with Danielle from Flushing bringing a nice 3 pound scup over the rails and 9 y/o Vickie nailing 5 double headers! Sat 9/3 Tim Webb and friends did some offshore fihing with albacore to 45 pounds. Sun 9/4 Mr Park and his buddies had a great fluke charter limiting out with 7 fish over 5 1/ 2pounds.
