Awesome quality fluke going on right now! Joe Araujo nailed a 9.9 pounder only to be edged out of the pool by Mr. Dinj's 10.5 pound doormat! Tues 8/23 A bit slower today but still some nice quality fish at frisbees and the elbow. Mr. Om won today's pool with a flattie weighing 8 pounds. Wed 8/24 Another quality fluke day! Charlie Rutpert hauled a 9 pounder over the rails. Mr Lee nabbed the pool with his 10 1/2 pound doormat! Wed night Slower bass bite but Kathy Kronuch reeled the 19 pound pool winner in. Thurs 8/25 Henry chen was our fluke pool winner this morning with an 8 pound 6 ounce flke. Fri 8/26 The morning trip saw the pool winnings go to "Screwie Louie" Pedone of Locust Valley and his 4 pound fluke. Friday afternoon Dr. Jed Kramer had a gang out and they diamond jigged some blue fish for some sore arm action. Sat 8/27 The morning fluke run yielded a 4 pound fluke to take the pool for Mike Aloisio. The afternoon saw another 4 pounder as the winner, with the lucky angler Winston Lo. Saturday night bass was very good. Paul Dill was high hook with 4 keepers. Ray Reiz nabbed a 32 ounder. Ther4e were 3 other fish weighing in the 30 pound range. Dan O'Keefe was the big pool winner with his 45 pound striped bass! Sun 8/28 Our 6 pound fluke pool winner today was Tommy Stype. Mon 8/15 Some nice fluke in the vicinity of Great Eastern today. Mr. Chang won th epool with his 8 pound flattie. Tues 8/16 Andy Schweitzer took home the pool winnings with his 4 1/ 2pound fluke. Wed 8/17 Fred won the pool with a 5 pound fluke today. Night bassing earned Mike McGreever top honors with his 30 pound striper. Thurs 8/18 Bobby Vikse was the pool winner today with a 4 3/4 pound fluke. Fri 8/19 Jay Powers chrtered S.O. V - Started with a tough porgie bite, but the day quickly improved with a decent fluke bite to 6 pounds then ended with an awesome bass and bluefish bite on diamond jigs. Blues to 12 pounds and striperr in the high teens. Fri night bass had a nice 32 pound striper win the pool for Mike Tierney. Sat 8/20 Locust Valley F.D. took the big boat out for a mixed day. Good porgie action to 3 1/2 pounds. Warren beat out the "porkchop brothers" combined for high hook on porgies. Sued McCoy pulled up a double header of keeper fluke to 4 pounds. Evan did a great job hooking and reeling the porgies but couldn't manage to get them over the rail - better luck next year! Sun 8/21 Fluking is seeing a daily improvement. Many limits taken today with some nice sized sea bass mixed in. Rob Crane nailed th epool with his 7 3/4 pound fluke. Charters: Mon 8/15 Artie Ruppert and his family were back again this year for soome night eeling action for striped bass. Veronica from Austin, Texas had a nice 34 pound striped bass, Flavio nailed a 37 pounde while Shane nailed a 30 pounder. Craig's first fish weighed a very decent 31 pounds but then he managed to tip the scales with an impressive 45 pounder. Great night! Tues 8/16 Mark Novak chartered the boat for some mixed action. Awesome bluefish action on diamond jigged to 14 pounds. Did some fluking as wll with weights to 5 pounds. Wed 8/17 Rusty Hook Fishing Club headed out for a mixed trip. Started the day diamon jigging and bailed the blue fish and had some stripers. a fair bite of fluke ended the day to 5 pounds. Special twilight trip - Gary chartered the boat for a twilight trip of diamond jigging. Awesome bluefish action with some stripers mixed in. 12 y/o Michele nabbed her first ever bass at 22 pounds. Kiera nailed a 20 pound bass. Thurs 8/18 Bailed blues diamond jigging with some very sore arms for the Larkin family. Had a 30 pound bluefin to the boat also. Sat 8/20 Jay Powers and his group headed out again today. John won a hat with the first fish. "Capt Bird" livelined the biggest bass at 19 pounds. Marco nabbed the biggest fluke at 6 1/2 pounds and a nice sea bass at 5 1/2 pounds. Mon 8/8 Good mix of nice sixed fluke and sea bass today near frisbeez. Doc Savage nabbed hi slimit and th epool fluke at 8 pounds. Tues 8/9 Billy Schulken went home with the pool winnings today with a fluke weighing in at 6 pounds. Wed 8/10 It was Mrs. Young's day wehen she weighed her fluke in at 7 pounds and won the pool. Wed night Montauk's own, Kathy Kronuch won the pool tonight with her striped bass at 25 pounds. Friday 8/12 Slow porgie bite today. Scup and fluke in the mix. Fri night - Improvement on the striper bite. Walter Schmidt hit the pool with a 30 pound striper. Sat 8/13 The pool fluke weighed 5 pounds and was won by Jamie from Huntington. Sat night - Al Stoma was the pool winner with a 30 pound striper. Sun 8/14 Good day offluke action and sea bass too. Doc Savage was back again defending his pool winning title. He had 8 keepers and th epool at 7 1/2 pounds. Sea Otter IV Charters: Mon 8/8 Wes Olliver and family were out. Tough bass bite but they managed a pick of scup and blues. Tues 8/9 Ed Lieberman took his grandkids out for their annual fishing trip. Nice fluke fishing with Ed winning th epool and his granddaughter Christina being high hook. Wed 8/10 The Massapequa Fire Department was out. Mikey Waters won th epool fluke. Jim Leany made a guest appaearance from FL to score high hook with fluke and sea bass. Thurs 8/11 Ventured to Block Island to pick up TJ Shimaitis and friends for a shark trip. Some blue sharks with the largest weighing 150 pounds. Fri 8/12 Tim Bischoff and friends did some livelining porgies for bass. Doc nailed his largest to date at 31 pounds. Sat 8/13 Mike McGuigan and friends came out and Mike nailed his first bass evr at 55 years old - livelining. His son Brian won the fluke pool. Sat night Mike Lennon headed out with some friends for some night eeling action. Decent night - Ray had a 34 pounder, Sam had a 33 pounder and 12 year old Tom had a 31 pounder. Sun Jim Farley and pals were out for a mixed day. Fun day with scup, fluke in th emix. Jim Sr. was high hook and won th efluke pool with a 5 1/2 pound fluke. Please let readers know that Saturday 8/20 we will not be available during the day for our 1/2 day trips. Also we have now changed our schedule so half day trips will run on Fridays and Saturdays 8am-noon and 1pm-5pm. Mon 8/1 Steady pick of quality fish throughout the day at the elbow and frizbees. Jay Kim was the pool winner w/a 6 pound fluke. Tues 8/2 Hearst Mills nabbed the pool winner , a 4 1/2 pound fluke. Wed 8/3 Decent day with "#1 Fisherman", Mr. Park taking th etop honors with his 8 pound fluke. Wed night Tough bite, lots of dogs. Bill Iken won th epool with a nice 25 pound striper. Sat 8/6 Douthside Kenny won th epool with a 4 pound fluke. Sat night A pair of 33 pounders tied for the striper pool. With Lional Diaz and Henrich Huncar sharing the honors. Montauk's own Kathy Kronuch nailed 3 keepers (keeping only 2 for herself). Sun 8/7 Fished the elbow and vicinity, ok pick. The pool was a tie between Mr. Oh and Ignacio who each pulled up 5 pounders. Sea Otter Charters: Fri 8/5 Bruce Rattiner chartered Sea Otter V to celebrate 14 year old Mike's birthday. Great mixed bag including blue fish, striped bass, sea bass and fluke. Sat 8/6 Jerry Wisniewski and Michael Rutigliano had some guys out for a bachelor party day of fishing aboard Sea Otter IV. Nice fluke with a good number coming up around 4 - 4 1/ 2pounds. Conner won their pool with a 5 pound flattie. Sun8/7 Southampton's Hardy Plumbing had the gang out for a day of fun aboard Sea Otter V. Good amounts of fluke and sea bass too. Mike won the pool with his 5 3/4 pound fluke. There were a bunch weighing around 5 pounds. Billy was high hook with 6 keepers.
