FISHING REPORT
Fri 3/25
Slower fishing SE of Block. The moon the Last few days may be a factor in the action. Ling in the mix, some keeper cod and good numbers of shorts. Pool caught by Mike Riccardi from Staten Island at 12 pounds. Sat 3/26 SE of Block provided plenty of fishing action with literally hundreds of shorts going back over the rails. Some anglers tossed over 30 back. Very encouraging for future. Mike Ahern of Central Islip won the pool. Joyce Perez brought in the first keeper flounder. Some ling also in the mix for the day. In observance of the holiday, we are not sailing Easter Sunday. SAT 3/19 THE WEATHER WAS NICE THE BOAT WAS SOLD OUT. THE FISHING STARTED SLOW, BY 11 AM THE BITE STARTED. IT WAS THE BEST I`VE SEEN FOR THE ENTIRE BOAT. WE WERE DRIFTING IT WOULD BE LINE MOVING UP THE RAIL RODS BENDING. AT ONE POINT I COUNTED 34 ROD BENDING WITH FISH. THE HIGH LIGHTS WRE 10 YRS MIKE REVARAQ WITH 5 DOUBLE HEADERS AND 8 KEEPERS. 12YRS JAMES BARKER WITH 14 KEEPERS, BILL WEBER WITH HIGH HOOK OF 17 KEEPERS. DREW HANSON ON HIS FIRST COD TRIP EVER CAUGHT THE POOL FISH OF 28LBS. EACH ANGLER ONLY KEPT THERE LIMIT. THE BOAT ENED THE DAY WITH OVER 350 KEEPER COD . IT WAS UNBELIEVABLE TO SEE SO MANY FISH ON FOR SUCH A LONG TIME. I WANT TO THANK ALL MY ANGLERS TODAY FOR WORKING TOGETHER ON THE DRIFT. FRI 3/ 18 FISHED SE OF BLOCK. THE PICK WAS TOUGH A FEW DRIFTS WE MANAGED A PICK. THE POOL WAS CAUGHT BY KEEY BERMINGHAM OF 31LBS. AT THE END OF THE DAY THERE WAS A BLITZ OF COD. THERE WERE SOME ANGLERS RELEASING OVBER TWENTY SHORTS EACH., BUT NOT ANY AMOUNT OF KEEPERS. Mon 3/14 Decent day fishing SE of Block Island. Good number of keepers with shorts and ling in the mix. Pool winner was Nick Saselu from Scarsdale who weighed in a nice 34 pound cod. Scott Mafetone hauled a nice double header of 12 pounders over the rails today as well. Sun 3/13 Headed SE of Block with a special charter out today. Cast and crew of "Growing Up Gotti" were out and filmed their season finale. Limited time of fishing but great action. All anglers hooked up with at least one double header each. Wish we could have stayed out longer because it looked like it was going to be a strong bite. Patrick nabbed the pool at 9 pounds. Indications look good going foward! Sat 3/5 Fished areas SE of Block Island today. Anglers enjoyed some pretty decent action with good numbers of shorts thrown back. Mark Rudnick of the Past Time Princess from Sheepshead Bay won the pool. A decent ling bite rounded out the day. Sun 3/6 Plenty of action SE of Block today with many shorts going back over the rails. Nice bite of ling also with a lone blackfish coming in as well. George Pesci hit the pool with a 12 pound cod. Sat 2/26 and Sun 2/27 Ling in the mix both days with the pool on Sat taken by Denis Baltuck. Sundays pool at 10 lbs nabbed by John Delaney. Unfort the prior weekends report, for whatever reason, did not get printed in the publications and due to a sudden loss in our family, this weekends report did not get updated. Thanks to everyone for the condolences and support. We continue to sail for cod, by reservation and with the minimum number of passengers every day except Tuesday and Thursday at 4AM.
