FISHING REPORT

Good mixed bag fishing today. We had our fluke limit and also a good mix of blues and sea bass. Lots of porgies around to 3 1/2 pounds. steve Crane from North Carolina won the fluke pool with a 5 pounder. Tues 7/20 The morning trip had us over at Midway where we had plenty of action but quite a few shorts. Brian Pulsinelli won the pool with a 2.5 pound fluke. Tuesday afternoon we were over in the North Grounds where there was much better quality. The boat had its limit on fluke and the pool was won by Garry Gatens with a 7 1/2 pounder. Wed 7/21 We headed back for more of the same. Garry Gatens enjoyed his 2nd pool winnings of the week. This time with a 5 1/2 pounder. 2nd place was taken by Joanne Spaziante with her 5 pound fluke. Wednesday afternoon Denis Jaigobin took the pool honors with a 31/2 pound fluke. Wednesday night the bite turned on late but we were rewarded with over 65 keepers coming over the rails. Great fishing with 5 fish weighing over 30 pounds. 12 year old Sean O'Driscoll won the pool with a nice 37 pound striper. Mike D. weighed in a 34 pounder. Thursday 7/22 Good 1/2 day fluking wioth the pool at 8 1/2 pounds. Friday 7/23 Pretty decent mixed bag day. The pool fish was a 6 1/2 pound fluke taken by Wally Aly. Saturday 7/24 The morning bite gave Mr. Lee the pool honors with a 3 1/2 pound fluke. The afternoon pool was won by George McCartney with a 4 pounder. Saturday night was decent striper action with the boat nabbing its limit. High hook was 8 keepers. The pool was won by Kevin Paik with a 32 pounder. Art from Raquet Lake was out on his first ever striper trip and grasped the knack for it by bringing 4 keeper over the rails. Sun 7/25 Full day towards Block Island. Some goodquality fish with Andrew Pitt bringing in the 71/2 pound pool fish. CHARTERS Sat 7/24 Kurt Althaus and buddies from Buckridge catering chartered Sea Otter IV for a nice mixed bag action day. Lots of fluke and porgies camne over the rails. The pool was a 26 pound striper caught in a diamond jig. Sun7/25 Hady Plumbing from Southampton chartered the boat for a full day fluke trip. Headed towards Block Island where they had some nice quantities and a good pick. Gary won the pool with a 4 3/4 pounder. Week of 7/12 Mon 7/12 Good fluking on the full day with Ray Reis taking 1st and 2nd [place in the pool with a 6 and 5 1/2 pound fluke. Some sea bass and porgies in the mix. Tues 7/13 bad weather kept us at the dock. Weds 7/14 Dogfish were a problem this morning but Mr. Choi weeded through and won the morning pool with a 4 pounder. The afternoon we headed to the Midway Rips and we easily nabbed our limit on fluke. Ralphie T. won the pool with a 3 pound fluke. Fri 7/15 Most customers went home with their fluke limit today. Tangle Chan was back winning the pool with a 6 1/2 pound fluke. Some jumbo scup came over the rails towards the end of the day. Fri night 7/16 Pretty good night with over 30 keepers coming over the rails. The pool winner was Phil Brunori who weighed in a 34 pound striper. Sat 7/17 Good morning fluking with Mr. Oh winning the pool with a 5 pounder. Mr. Oh went back out for the afternoon and won again. This time with a 6 1/4 pounder. Sat 7/17 Night bassing was pretty fair with Jason Coppa winning the pool with a 31 pound striped bass. Sun 7/18 Niced mixed bag day. Kevin Daniels won the pool with a 6 pound fluke. Doc savage nailed a keeper bass on his fkuke rig. Thomas Kim weighed in a 4 3/4 pound sea bass. Scup was a bit slower today. Sea Otter IV charters: wed 7/14 Frank Solina and friends chartered for a mixed bag day. Plenty of fluke. Vinnie woke from his nap in time to bring in a 36 pound bass while trolling. Sat 7/17 Livingston Electric chartered the boat for a mixed bag day. Great day with more than enough fluke, good numbers of porgies and also some nice sea bass. . 8 year old Dean Livingston brought in a solid 10 pound bluefish. Sat night Glenn Ophoff said goodbye to his bachelor days with a night bass trip. Good night with Glenn nailing a 39 pounder and his brother Bill weighing in a 32 pounder. Three other fish over 30 pounds were swung over the rails. Sun 7/18 Roslyn Highlands Fire dept was out today. Great mix with porgies, sea bass, blues and stripers. More than enough fluke to go around. Robert Polchesk won the pool with a 7 1/2 pound fluke. Week of 7/5 Mondays full day had some decent fluke action with Julio Castro winning the pool with a 4 1/2 pound fluke. Slow bass action. Blues, porgies and sea bass around. Tuesday morning we headed down the South side for some fluke action. Debbie Bennet scored the pool winnings with her 5 pound fluke. Tuesday afternoon it was Tangle Chan who brought in a 5.5 pound fluke to win the pool. Wednesday pretty good fluke action with Jack Wagner taking home the pot with a 6 1/2 pound fluke. Mr. kim took the afternnon with a 3 pound fluke. Wednesday night had us bassing in the rips. Big bass Bob was high hook with 5 keepers. Kathy Kronuch won the pool with a 32 pounder. She also swung a 30 pounder over the rails. Thursday saw some awesome fluking with the boat limiting out. George Evans took the morning pool with a 4 1/2 pounder and Mike Janickey took the afternoon witha 6 1/2 pounder. Fridays full day trip saw some decent fluke action with Mr. Kim taking first place with his fluke at 5 pounds. Some porgies and sea bass in the mix. Really thick dogfish hitting at diamond jigs! Friday night bassing had us in the rips where Clavel R. was high hook with 4 keepers. Bill Iken won the pool with a striper that weighed in at 33 pounds. Saturday morning great action on the fluke with the pool at 5 pounds. The afternoon James Chang won the pool with a 4 1/2 pound fluke. Saturday night tough night for bassing in the Rips. kenny Donnelly managed to pull out a 30 pound pool winner. Sunday was an excellent fluke day. Lots of jumbo porgies in the mix as well as a few sea bass coming over the rails. Mr. Kim won the pool wiyth his 6 pound fluke. Sea Otter Iv headed out on a shark trip on wednesday with Lou Cappiello and friends. After fishing for a bunch of blue fish bait they headed out 25 miles and brought in a 95 pound Mako. Saturday Brian Purcell and his buddies chartered the boat for a day of mixed bag action. Plenty of fluke with nathan weighing ina 6 1/2 pounder and Eric nailing a 7 pounder. Some bluefish action and some early false albacore in the mix. **Please note that Sea Otter IV will be running the two 1/2 day fluke trips on Saturday 7/17. sea Otter V is sold out for the daytime trips only. Week of 6/28 Monday 6/28 The Massapequa Fire Dept. chartered Sea Otter IV for a mixed bag day of fluke, sea bass and porgies. Plenty of fluke action all around! Even Mikey Waters managed his limit throwing back extras for another time. Tuesday 6/29 The Mahopak Middle school teachers chartered Sea Otter Iv for a mixed bag day and also saw some good fluke action with some sea bass and porgies mixed in. The ladies took top honnors with Mary nabbing a 7 1/2 pound fluke and Dawn weighing in a 5 1/2 pounder. The beginning of the week saw some good fluke action aboard the open Boat sea Otter V as well.. Good quantity coming from the rips and some good quality down the south side. John Brisciana nabbed a 4 pound fluke for Mondays pool and Dick Sesso nabbed tuesdays pool with a 6 pound fluke. Wednesday The morning was pretty decent with Denis Mahaff from L.A. taking the pool winnings with a 5 pound fluke. We had our limit on the South side for fluke with Mr. Lee bringing in an 8 pounder to win the pool in the afternoon. Wed night plenty of dogfish and bluefish around making conditions less than ideal. Ralphie Verriest won the pool with an 18 pound striper. Good fluking Thursday with the boat getting its limit in the morning. Mr Ace Moon and Marty Murphy tied for 1st place in the pool with a pair of 7 1/2 pound fluke. Thursday and friday nightt Al Budis and pals chartered Sea Otter IV for a some good action night bass fishing. Some nice fish were landed both nights but it was Billy Kogut nailing a 56 pound striper from the Pollack Rips on Thursday night that was the real highlight. Fridays full day fishing was excellent with the boat taking its fluke limit again. Lots of porgies sea bass and blue fish in the mixed bag. Ji Kim and Dave Jurich tied for the fluke pool. Mr Kim had a nice str8uggle bringing a 25 pound monkfish over the rails. what a beauty! Friday night bass had some decent fishing with 4 fish over 30 pounds coming over the rails. Mark Miller took 1st place with a nice 38 pound striper. Saturday Joe Wood charterd Sea Otter Iv for a mixed bag day including trolling for bass. Jeff Ignall brought in a nice 34 1/2 pounder. The trip also had its limit of fluke with some sea bass, blue fish and porgies mixed in as well. Saturday morning pretty good fluking on the South side with Tom Lee winnning the pool with a 4 pounder. Saturday afternoon was similiar with Pete Wolke taking a 4 pounder as well to win the pool. Saturday night the boat had its limit on stripers. High hook was 8 fish. Paul Schoeppler won the pool with a 30 pounder. Sundays half day fluke trips were pretty good. Thomas Kim took the morning pool with a 4 1/2 pounder and the action improved in the afternoon when Oh Chan weighed in a 7 3/4 pound fluke to win the pool. Sunday night saw some excellent bass fishing! The boat took its limit again. 7 fish over 30 pounds were swung over the rails. The pool winner was Frank Guana with a 41 pounder. Mary Brown reeled in a 38 pound striper and a 31 pounder. Frank Stubitz landed a 36 pounder and Tyler Heckman nailed a 37 pounder. Awesome night!
