FISHING REPORT
Week of 11/16
Saturday's 1/2 day diamond jigging was fairly strong in the morning with the boat just missing its limit from the North and Alaska rips. Big Bass Bob Z. nailed the pool with a 22 pounder. It was slightly slower in the afternoon but Ray Zopf took pool honors with an 18 pound striper. Saturday nights live eeling trip for bass was very good in the Alaska Rips with some nice quality and quantity taken. Benny Chiaramonte had 1st place in the pool with a 31 pound striped bass. Sunday we blackfished north of Block Island with some pretty decent fishing and quantities. Karl Kirschenheuter nailed the pool winning 9 1/2 pound tog. Week of 11/10 Monday's all day blackfish trip had us North of Block Island for some good action and great numbers. Justin Hugh nabbed the pool with a 9 pounder. Tuesday, Veterans day, the great action continued in the same area as well as Fishers Island. Paul Ryan took first in the pool with a 10 pounder while Ed from East Hampton managed 9 keepers incvluding a 9 1/2 pounder. Darren from Shelter Island had 10 keepers as did Mike and Captain Joel. John Davis nailed 18 keepers(releasing extras) ands jerry was out on his first ever blackfish trip and managed 5 nice togs to take home. Sataurday night's bass action was excellent as the boat had it;s limit early hwen we fished the North and Alaska Rips. "Uncle Larry" Hovanec nailed the pool with a 28 pounder and also managed 6 keepers (releasing extras). Sunday's blackfish trip was a bit slowere after this weeks wind, we fished north of Bloock Island but we still managed some nice results. Robert Novimski, should have been in the pool because he had the biggest fish at 9 1/2 pounds. Jum Herr took the pool earnings with his 9 pound tog. Week of 11/3 Monday the Massapequa Fire Department boys were out doing a mixed bag day. Mike Waters was high hook for Blackfish wioth the pool at 7 1/4 pounds. Kevin Meehan nailed 6 keeper stripers, eeling up to 23 pounds. Stewey once again managed to outfish Mikey for stripers. Tuesday's full day blackfish trip was excellent. Over 70 keeper blacKfish came over the rails. The pool winner was Nick Garafola who nabbed a tog at 6 1/2 pounds. Friday day 3 of the crew went out for blackfish and had 75 keepers up to 10 1/2 pounds releasing all fish over their limit. Friday night bass trip saw some nice action . Good quantities coming over the rails. The pool winner was kathy Kronuch who brought in a 26 pounder. Saturday morning diamond jigging had a lot of feisty bluefish hitting the decks up to 16 1/4 pounds. The pool winner was Kevin Daniels with a 14 pound striper The afternoon trip saw similiar action. The pool winner was "Jiggy" with a 17 pound striper. Sunday's full day blackfish saw some excellent fihing. Rob Crane was high hook with 18 keepers and Speedo McCoy had 16 keepers. Sal Filancia nabbed 17 keepers including the pool at 11 1/4 pounds. Mike nailed a 9 3/4 pounder and Bob had a nice 9 1/4 pounder. All anglers kept only their limits. Overall Capt. Joel said the blackfishing has been very steady hitting at different peices off R.I. and Fishers Island. WEEK OF 10/27 Thursdays full day blackfish was very good. Broklyn Lou was high hook with 6 keepers and he nabbed the pool with an 8 pounder. Friday's diamond jigging produced numerous blues as well as some nice quality bass. Karl Bonawandt took the morning pool with a 15 pounder and in the afternoon Eddie also took top honors with a 15 poun striper. Friday night bassing started off a bit slow then came on like gangbusters. The boat had its limit. Kenny Cisek was high hook with 5 keepers and had the 30 pound pool winner. Saturday morning diamond jigging brought the pool earnings to Dave Aboudi and his 18 pound striper. Good action also on blues. The afternoon honors went to Mike Wuillamey as he brought a nice 22 lb striper over the rails. Saturday night around 50 keeper stripers came over the rails from the East spot. Robert Crane took the pool with a 32 pounder. There were 3 others brought in that night at 30-31 pounds. Sunday blackfishing at Cerebus brought John the pool winnings with a 7 1/4 pound tog. Ok fishing a little slow to start. Competition Toyota of Middle Isoand also enjoyed a nice mixed bag of fishing at Block Island bringing home plenty of porgies and nice quality sea bass.
