FISHING REPORT
Week of 9/21
Fished in the rips Sun. nite and Ken Donnelly was hot, nailing 6 keeper bass. Kathy Kronuch won the pool with a 21 pound striper. Fished the frisbees the beginning of the week where we jigged and landed plenty of blue fish. Porgy fishing was excellent and we had some nice size sea bass in the mix. Wednesday night wew fished in the Pollack rips where we had over 40 keeper bass. A good night and Kathy Kronuch nabbed the pool again with a 26 pound bass. Thursday we had a great day at the South side and were happy to see that the fluke were back. Kevin, Sonny, Marvin, chang and Pak all limited on fluke. The pool was a 7 1/2 pounder caught by Marvin. There were a lot of Jumbo porgies in the mix, with plenty of double headers of 2 pounds plus. Fridaywe diamond jigged in the morning where we hit a lot of blue fish as well as some stripers. False albies were also hitting on the jigs. Michelle Santomauro brought a nice 20 pound striper over the rails. We landed some nice fluke in the afternoon. Andy brought in his limit and Brookly Lou managed an 8 1/4 pounder. Friday night bass fishing was tough. Fish up to 20 pounds came over the rails from the rips. Saturday day we had a real mixed bag. we started off with diamond jigging and even though it was wind against the tide we managed quite a few blue fish. Headed to frisbees for some solid sea bass action. Finished up on the south side for fluke where Rob Amoroso nailed an 11 pound doormat. Saturday night fishing was Kathy Kronuch night, come to think of it , it was her week. She brought in 4 keepers and the pool at 28 pounds. Sunday day was a real strong fluke day. High hook was Chang with 11 keepers up to 7 pounds. Stella also limited out with fluke up to 7 1/2 pounds. Cho Had 3 fish over 6 1/2 pounds and he nailed the pool with a 9 1/4 pounder. 6 anglers had their limit. Week of 9/14 Sunday night bass provided great results for Tina "the Honeymooner" who was high hook with 6 keepers. Top honors go to 10 y/o Brandon Fight who won the pol with his 33 pound striper. Monday day produced a lot of sea bass and porgie action. Kim had a grand slam day and a full cooler, catching keeper fluke, sea bass, stripers and porgies. He included a nice 4 pound sea bass. Donald managed an 8 pound fluke. Tuesday day the fishing was a bit tough but amidst the sea bass being caught Rich and Anthony managed to tie and split the pool with a pair of 6 1/4 pound fluke. Wednesday day the fishing was off but we managed a mix of sea bass and porgies to take home. Wednesday night bass fishing had some rough seas but Bernie R. won the pool with a 23 pound striper. Thursday and Friday due to the hurricane that wasn't we were at the docks. Saturday a great morning of diamond jigging stripers 42 keepers over the rails. Lots of porgies in the mix. Sea bass was a bit slow. Saturday night Dennis Connors was high hook with 4 stripers. Included was the pool winner at 30 lbs and a 29 pounder. Sunday day the porgies and sea bass were cooperating for the anglers. Sea Bass up to 3 lbs were brought in. Week of 9/7 Sunday night's bass trip had us at the east spot. Great night with the boat limiting out. Highlights was pool winner Nick Feeley's 40 lb cow and Rlph's 37 1/4 pounder. Monday's fluking was tough on the all day trip down the south side and in the rips. Some nice sea bass were thrown back and Brooklyn Lou managed to bring in a 7 1/2 pound fluke and a 5 1/4 pounder. Tuesday was a real mixed bag day in the rips and south side. Good amount of blue fish and striped bass were jigged. Nice porgie quantities. Fluking was slow but Brookluyn Lou won the pool with a 5 pounder. Wednesday there were a few fluke around and a lot of porgie action. We live lined for striped bass and Don, Ray, Scott, Paul and Bill all limited out. Ray one the pool with a 25 lb striper. Wednesday night at the east spot and rips where John esposito landed a 31 1/2 pound striper and Kathy Kronuch brought in a 29 pounder. Friday, conditions were tough making the fishing pretty slow. We had some stripers and blues come in. Some nice sea bass that went back over the rails. Sunday we were happy to see a good amount of short fluke back in the mix. Mrs Kim Nabbed a 5 lb fluke. Again a lot of nice sea bass were released. A pretty good mixed day with large quantities of jumbo porgies and blues and striped bass. Week of 9/1 Sunday nite bassing at Great eastern - a bit tough but Terry Piekens brought the pool winner over the rails at 28 lbs. Labor day was an exciting day down the south side for Insoo Kim who nailed a 10 3/4 pound doormat. Not to be outdone, his friend Hak Moon brought a 12.1 pounder over the rails insuring bragging rights and the pool. The high seas on Tues forced us to cancel the trip. Wednesday, conditions were still rough but the diehards braved it and it was worth it! Down the south side Bill Iken landed a 9.5, 7.5 and a 5 pound fluke. Nohara Hajime nailed a 10.5 pound fluke. The pool winner, hands down was Kuyniaki Ohba with his 12.14 pound fluke! Great quality day!! Thursday full day had us downthe South side. Victor was high hook with 10 keeper fluke up to 8 pounds. Marvin oakley won the pool with his 10.5 pound doormat! Friday full day we continued the trek to the south side for some fluke action. 9 year old Frank Bottiglieri brought in a nice 8 1/2 pounder as did Walter. The pool was taken by Mickey M. and his biggest fluke to date - a real doormat weighing 11.5 pounds! Friday night the boat limited out for bass as we hit great eastern and the rips. Highlights included pool winner ed with his 37 pound striper. Walter nailed a 35 pound striper. Saturday's full day proved some slow fishing due to the ground swell. James managed to pull out a decent pool winner at 12 pounds. Sundays full day had a tie for first place in the fluke pool. Thomas Kim and Eddie Anderson each weighed in 10 1/4 pound fluke!
