FISHING REPORT

Week of 5/26
Memorial Day's horrible weather forced us to shorten our Full day trip to a 1/2 day. The conditions didn't effect 95 year old Yoon's ability to diamond jig some keeper stripers. Capt. Joel reeled in a few stripers as well. Mr. Lee took the pool with a 4 pound fluke.

Tuesday was a great day. Headed over towards Block Island and Annie Mae 5 keeper striped bass and nailed 9 keeper fluke. Her partner in crime, Chrome Dome had 10 keeper fluke. The boat limited out diamond jigging bass, hauling in over 30 keepers. Mr.Park took the pool with a 6 1/2 pound fluke. Capt Joel had the biggest fluke of the day at 9 1/2 pounds. All anglers retained only their limit.

Wednesday headed back to Block islandfor some diamond jigging. Some keeper bass and lots and lots of blue fish. Fluking started out good and we headed to the South side where Frank had his limit. Mike took the pool at 6 1/2 lbs.

Thursday, diamond jigging in the rips produced a lot of blues and some stripers. The day started out tough but the bite came on late. Fishin' Kim was high hook with 12 keeper fluke and also had some sea bass in his mix. Frank "the Clammer" had the pool fluke at 7 lbs.

Friday was a really good day, with good quality and quantity around . Heading down the beach, over 22 keeper striped bass came over the rails diamond jigging. Mary Saraha nailed her first striper ever. Highlight of the day was Roger Veglie and his 11 1/2 pound doormat. He also jigged 5 keeper stripers. Bob Barbarici has 14 keepers including a 6 1/4 lb fluke. Dave Aboudi had 13 keeper fluke. Ed had his largest fluke to date an 8 1/4 pounder. Captain Joel stirred things up with his catch, a very impressive 7.9 lb sea bass. Mate, Jeremy Gould took a day off and nailed two fluke at 7 1/2 lbs each.

Friday nights bass trip was terrific. Fishing the East spot, Pollack rip and the Elbow, the boat limited out for 10 anglers. Ken Lally had 5 keepers. Dan had 3 keepers, Michelle Bissett had 3 keepers, Captain Joel had 7 keepes. High hook went to Dave Aboudi with 13 being his lucky number, 2nd trip of the dayay in a row, 13 keepers and the 27.5 lb pool winner. Anglers only kept their limits.

Saturday morning the drift was slow. We headed down to the beach and Bob Barbarici had the pool fluke at 5 lbs Some sea bass also came over the rails.. The afternoon we headed to the elbow and Terry seitz had a 6 1/2 lb fluke.

Week of 5/19
The week started out strong and with some beautiful weather. Monday, at the South side, Steve Gianiotisi had 7 keepers, including an 8 pounder which tied for 2nd place with Osa. Jaechoi had 7 keeprs also, 5 of which were over 5 pounds. He had the 1stplace pool winner in his bucket at 9 3/4 pounds. Frank Deluca limited out.
Rob warrington and the boys in blue from Suffolk County's 3rd Precinct, chartered Sea Otter Iv for a mixed bag day. Shawn Spillane landed a very impressive 10 1/4 pound fluke. The guys also nabbed 5 keepr bass diamond jigging.

Tuesday, back to the South side where the fishing started off a little slower. Frank delucca limited out - seconday in a row. Alex Halikas had a nice 7 3/4 pound fluke. Chrome dome is back, and apparently has not lost his touch as he limited out. Frank and Artie limited out as well. The 2nd place pool went to Lien with his 8 pounder. Joe Johnson Had a 6 3/4 pound fluke and the pool at 9 1//2 pounds.

Wednesday, Joe Johnson was back in on the action, limiting out as did, Dave and frank Parsoro. Vinny Larkin limited out and included in his take home a nice 6 1/4 pounder. Lenny Stangrone had the pool winner at 6 1/2 pounds.

Thursday Captain Joel added some diamond jigging to the mix. Heading to the North rips he got things rolling by jigging 4 keeprs. & other keepers came over the rails and the shorts went back to sea. (Anglers keep only their limits) Ken Slowik Jr. had 5 keepr fluke from the South side and the pool at 5 1/4 pounds. Mike Connoly limited out. High hook went to Kilsong with 13 keepr fluke.

Friday we did not sail.

Saturday's morning trip had us fluking on the South side again. Results had Bill Bittis reeling in his largest fluke to date at 7 pounds and it earned him 1st place pool honors. The afternoon had Chong getting his limit including the pool at 6 1/4 pounds.

Sunday a ground swell was on making fishing a bit tougher. Steve Matucci had 6 keepers. Sung pak took the pool with an 8 pounder.




Week of 5/12
Started running Tuesday on the South side with the new Sea Otter V. Great day of fluking! Boat limited out with 12 fares. Mr. Kim was high hook with 21 keepers. Jim Matucci had 18 keepers up to 7 pounds. He nabbed the pool with a 7 3/4 pounder. Anglers kept only their limits.

Wednesday over 250 keepers coming over the rails! - released the extras. Brooklyn Lou had 9 keepers, Sheppy from Glen Cove had 18 keepers up to 7 pounds and Mr. Kim had 22 keepers. Capt. Bobby Fappiano was on board and he caught his largest fluke ever at 9 3/4 pounds. First double digit doormat of the season!
Hats off to Paul Ryan who decked a 10 1/4 pounder! All from the South side.

Thursday was another strong day of fishing on the South side. Robert Lee from Sol Tackle reeled in our second double digit fluke of the week. The pool winning fish weighed in 10 1/2 pounds. Kenny Benson and Tim Williamson each had 8 pounders. Kenny also had 13 other keepers of which he kept only his limit. Alex Rende was not far behind with his impressive 7 3/4 pounder.

Fridays weather did not coooperate for fishing but we got out both trips on Saturday. A little roough weather but the morning trip had high hook of 6 keepers and Fred "Motor" of Montauk took the pool honors with a 6 1/2 pounder. Fishing was slow in the afternoon with too fast a drift. Once it slowed up the fishing improved somewhat. Kevin Kim took the pool with his 4 3/4 pounder.

We had our first night bass trip with eels on the new boat Saturday night. Fishing the Pollock Rips, East Spot and Elbow, it was a slow start but nonetheless a start! Capt. Joel christened his new boat with the first keeper bass at 15 pounds. Bob M. managed to limit out and take the pool with a 21 1/2 pounder.

Sundays full day took us to the South side where the morning was on the slow side with conditions of wind against the tide. Things improved greatly in the afternoon when J. Lee and William Chang pulled up a pair of 9 pounders. Anthony R. had an 8 pounder and 10 other keepers. Kevin Daniels also limited out.
Included in his take home was a pair of 6 pounders. Mike from Moriches had a pair of 7 pounders and his buddy Dan had a 6 pounder. Anglers took only their limit.






Week of 5/10
Fished the South side Saturday for two trips on Sea Otter IV. Sat. A.M. fluke fishing was very good. Jim Anderson took the pool with a 5 1/4 pounder edging out Capt. Joel who had a paitr of 5 pounders. Steve Matteo had 8 keepers - releasing one. Jim's friend Anthony was high hook with 11 keepers, retaining only his limit. Saturday afternoon the good fishing continued. Pat Kelly caught his largest fluke to date at 7 3/4 lbs. Dave Aboude was high hook with 9 keepers including his largest to date and the pool winner at 9 lbs 2 ounces.

Back to the South side again Sunday for a full day of red hot action. Capt. Vinny had 28 keepers! - releasing 21. Tina Berghardt had 12 keepers up to 5 1/2 lbs. Greg from Smith Point Bait and Tackle had his largest fluke ever 7 1/2 lbs. Steve Matteucci had 22 keepers including the pool at 8 1/4 lbs. Capt. Vinny christened Sea Otter IV with its first striped bass, caught on a fluke rig. Artie from Farmingdale caught a 2 lb Seabass. A sporadic mix of bluefish came over the rails both days. Sea Otter V has arrived and will sail its first trip with a full day on Tuesday 7AM-4PM.
