FISHING REPORT

Week of 9/30
Monday's all day combo took us down towards Gurney's fluke hunting do the tough East wind. Good sea bass fishing. Rich Verrity and Mr. Oh split the pool with a pair of 6 lb fluke.

Monday night the Secret Squirrel Club chartered the boat for some striped bass action with eels. Twelve guys and 23 fish. Took to the Midway Rips where Scott Mafetone had a 30 pounder, the largest on board.

Tuesday's all day combo took us back to the south side where the sea bass action again did not disappoint. Sea bass up to 4 lbs came over the rails. Porgie action was unbelievable - all you could want.Monday's all day combo took us to the South side where Mike Corbisiero landed a 10 lb fluke. Mike also jigged a keeper striper and caught seabass up to 4 lbs. Cleve got a nice fluke weighing in at 7 lbs. Diamond jigging led us to some blue fish and striper action. But it was the sea bass action that was red hot with sea bass up to 4 lbs. Bernie Renyolds nabbed one at 4.4 lbs.

Wednesday's combo had Ray , Joe and Jim hot on the Sea Bass action with catches up to 4 1/2 lbs. Gabby Ciuffo caught a 6 3/4 pound fluke, taking the pool along with 3 other keepers. Diamond jigging on the South side led us to numerous False Albacore and blue fish.

Wednesday nights bass trip had 10 fares and some good action at Midway. 15 keepers with Glenn being high hook with four. Frank Tattora had the pool fish at 24 lbs.

Thursdays all day combo on the South sidehad John and Savy with high hook of 40 Sea Bass up to 4 lbs. Savi also had the pool fluke at 4 1/2 lbs.

Friday's weather kept us at the dock.

Saturday Jeff Merz and his crew chartered the boat for a Porgie bonanza! Porgies were hot- as many as you could swing over the rails. John and Marilyn Merz shared the pool with Sea bass at 3 lbs each.

Saturday nights bass trip took us to Midway where Dominic Rickard had a 31 1/2 pounder and a 27 1/2 pounder. Kathy Kronuch and Capt. Joel tied for high hook with 3 keepers each.

Sundays all day trip took us to the North grounds where the morning had some good sea bass action. Mr. Lee #2 had the pool fluke at only 2 1/2 lbs signifying that the fluke fishing apparently has come to an end. Bob had the jumbo porgie at 3.4 lbs. John from Babylon had high hook with jumbo sea bass up to 4 1/4 lbs.

Week of 9/16
Monday's dismal weather kept us at the dock but Tuesday the sun came out and we were back fishing the South side. We had a real good mix of quality sea bass. It was a tough drift with the East wind but we diamond jigged a good mess of blues. On the fluke front Tom nabbed the pool with a 6 pounder.

Wednesday's all day trip had a tough morning drift but things improved dramatically in the afternoon on the South side. Beautiful sea bass, good amounts and some jumbo sized porgies came over the rails. Ray Tatarka managed a keeper striper on a porgie rig! But it was Al Bottiglieri from Franklin Square who had the catch of the day - an 11 pound fluke!

Wednesday nights bass trip was excellent! 6 fish over 30 pounds again! At the East spot the action was hot! Frank Stout had a 40 pounder! Paul Ryan nabbed a 35 pounder, Paul Columbo a 34 pounder, Rob Prado a 32 1/2 pounder tagged and Kathy Kronuch pulled in a 31 pounder and a 31 1/2 pounder! A great night with the boat limiting out for 13 fares.

Thursday morning fluking took us to the South side where Debra from East Hampton took the pool honors with her 8.4 pounder. The afternoon the honor was passed to George Valentine of White Plains who reeled in a 6 pounder.

Thursday night Victor 'Ravioli' Ghini chartered the boat for some Striper action. Fishing Midway rips Wayne Danenza of East Norwich nabbed a 32 pounder, Greg of Southhampton Brick and Tile topped the night off with a 38 pounderand Victor himself reeled in a 31 pound beauty.

Friday's full day had Brokop Zino high hook with fluke at 9 keepers. Manseu Kim had 6 keepers including rhe pool at 9 3/4 pounds. Diamond jigging was a bit slow but Al jigged himself a keeper striper. Blues and sea bass in the mix for the day.

Friday night the bass action was consistent at the Midway Rips and east spot. Tom Pennino from East Northport had 5 keepers one at 33 pounds and the pool winner at 36 pounds. Michelle Passarella caught her first striper ever and a very respectable 33 pounder at that. Roy Burst had 4 keepers up to 27 pounds. All anglers took only their limit home.

Saturday morning we fluked the South side where Tom Penino landed 4 keepers. Dave Aboudi had a 7 1/2 pounder but Rich Morreale from the Bronx secured the pool with his 11 3/4 pound doormat! Saturday afternoon fluking was a bit slower on the South side . Al Cook took the pool with a 4 1/2 pounder.

Saturday night we bassed at the Midway rips. Tom Pennino led the way again with his 33 pounder and 3 other keepers. Vincent Bzezinski had a 34 pounder and 13 year old Danny reeled in his first striper ever. Pool honors went to Tom O'neill who caught his biggest to date a real beauty at 40 pounds!

Sunday's fishing was slow on the fluke front but Alex managed to catch 5 keepers. There were many sea bass in the mix and the pool went to Lim Hae with a 7 3/4 pound fluke.

Week of 9/9
Sunday night's bass trip was phenominal! Fishing the East spot with 9 fares - the boat limited out bt 9:30pm! Six fish came over the rails weighing over 30 lbs! Three fisherman had 2 fish weighing in at 30 lbs a piece! Max Von strandt had a 31 pounder and a 35 pounder. Dave Aboudi had a 32 1/2 pounder and a 34 pounder and Paul Columbo had a 30 pounder and a 33 1/2 pounder. A great night!

Monday's all day trip took us to the South side where Chrome Dome got his groove back nabbing 9 keeper fluke up to 8 lbs. Liam nabbed 7 keepers up to 6 lbs. Dominic Giglio and Rich Verity shared top pool honors with a pair of 10 1/2 pounders! Rich also had 6 other keepers. Lots of blue fish action seen while diamond jigging with some keeper stripers. Annie Mae got herself a 15 pounder.

Tuesday the Gianni Pizza/Caswell charter had a lot of sucess diamond jigging blues as well as some short bass on the South side. Patrick nabbed an 8 lb fluke. There was a good mix of porgies and sea bass up to 4 lbs coming over the rails.

Wednesday and Thursday the bad weather kept us at the dock.

Friday we headed back to the South side where diamond jigging was excellent. Lots of blue fish and bass action as well as false albacore. Capt Vinny had 9 keeper fluke. Kim Lee had 7 keepers. Mike Conolly caught his biggest fluke to date at 7 1/2 lbs. Teddy Miller also cauhght his biggest fluke to date which aslo earned him the pool honors at 9 3/4 lbs.

Saturday Anker Electric chartered the boat taking to the South side for some diamond jigging where we had an abundant amount of blues and 15 keeper striped bass. Lots of false albacore around. High hook bassin' was Sammy with 4 keepers and high hook flukin' was dennis with 6 keepers.

Saturday night we headed out to the East Spot for some eeling for bass. 18 keepers came over the rails. The father and Son team of Chin showed the boat how it was done. Mr. Chin nabbed 4 keepers and 10 year old Kunbae took the pool with his 30 pounder.

Week of 9/1
Tuesday's full day was a true Combo trip at the South side! Fluking was slow, coming off he weekend weather but lots of nice sea bass as well as an abundant amount of porgies came over the rails. Diamond jigging was great for blues as well as stripers. Fred took the pool with a 19 lb striper, his first ever. Rich also jigged his first ever striper.

Wednesday day was a repeat of Tuesday but at Midway. Kim took the fluke pool with a 5 pounder. He also had diamond jigged a keeper bass. Pete Rich saw some great action diamond jigging w/blues and his 1st keeper striper coming over the rails.

Wednesday night bass trip had some good action at the east spot. Capt. Joel had 4 keepers and Chrome Dome had 3. Birthday Boy Paul Ryan reeled in his gift of a 28 pounder and took the pool honors!


Friday was another mixed bag day at Midway. Plenty of blues and striper action happenning on jigs. There also are plenty of quality sea bass coming over the rails. Fluking is starting to improve and Marty Stempel took the pool with a 6 1/2 pounder.

Saturday Vin De Gennarro chartered the boat for a great mixed bag day. At Midway the 10 guys managed to reel in 19 keeper striped bass diamond jigging! Plenty of blue fish aboard, sea bass up to 4 pounds and plenty of porgies up to 3 pounds!

Saturday nights bass trip at the East Spot produced some good results. Fred Rettenbeil nabbed 5 keepers, Tom Penino had 5 as well as did Kathy Kronuch, Greg Jermea
from Southhold took the pool honors with his 26 pounder.

All anglers kept only their limits.

Sunday's all day trip brought 10 year old Kunbae Chin something to brag about in school this week - he won the pool with a 12 pound doormat of a fluke!! Bill had a 9.1 pounder. Steve Matteucci diamond jigged 6 keeper stripers and . A great mixed day at Midway - plenty of sea bass and blues!.


Week of 8/25

Sunday night's bass trip took us to the East spot where we experienced some very good action. Dave Aboudi landed a nice 32 pounder. Dominic Passarelli, 11 years old, had his first keeper striper at 27 pounds! Mark McGregorlanded 2 keepers stripers, his first ever and one took the pool at 35 pounds.

Monday's fishing ended up good even though there was a lack of drift. At the South side, Tony Salerno and Kenny nabbed 7 keepers a piece. Myrna Ramirez had an 8 pounder but it was Cleve Giorgi who reeled in 9 keepers, one of which was the pool winner at 8 3/4 pounds.

Tuesday's all day had a lack of drift at the South side but that did not stop Ben, Paul, Wayne from limiting out on fluke. Brooklyn Lou was high hook on skates with his 20 coming over the rails. Capt. Glenn stirred things up when he reeled in a doormat of 11 pounds. Mark Ridgewell, from Hicksville, took the pool honors with his 9.8 fluke.

Friday's East wind created too fast a drift resulting in some tough fishing conditions. Sea Bass were not deterred as there were some good quantities coming over the rails. Bob from Middletown managed to take the pool with a 5.7 pound fluke.

The unwelcome wind and weather caused us to cancel the other trips for the week.
